Embryo Are Taking Part In Movember 2020!

It’s fair to say that 2020 has been, to put it lightly, an absolute nightmare of a year, from pandemics and climate change to nail-biting elections and social distancing – its been a lot. So here at Embryo, we thought, let’s forget all the nastiness for a while, have a bit of fun and try and raise some money in the process… which is why some hardy team members including yours truly have signed up for Movember!

Yep, you read that right, a few brave souls from SEO executives to content writers are doing their best to grow some ‘staches and raise some money for some incredibly worthy causes. It began on Saturday evening when we got the razors out and removed any evidence of facial hair from our face, ready, poised even, to grow the mother of all moustaches (think Tom Selleck but with northern accents).

While obviously tongue in cheek the message and campaign that is Movember couldn’t be more serious. From mental health and suicide prevention to prostate and testicular cancer, Movember has morphed into an all-encompassing campaign to help guys across the country during some incredibly tough times.

Why Movember Is So Important In 2020

  • On average, across the globe, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day.
  • 3 out of 4 suicides in the UK are men.
  • 1 in 8 UK men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
  • Right now, there are more than 333,5000 men living with the disease.
  • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men in the UK.
  • 91% of men recover from testicular cancer.

These statistics, courtesy of Movember themselves, are just a few reasons why this campaign is so vital, even in 2020, and here at Embryo, we couldn’t be more excited to grow some moustaches and raise some money.

One of our biggest supporters is our very own Managing Director Ross Green! Speaking about the launch he said: “Men’s mental health is something we as a country do not speak about enough and I’m delighted that members of my team have taken the initiative to get Embryo signed up to help raise money.

“We’re really excited about not only giving to a great cause like Movember but seeing what some of the guys at work can produce, moustache-wise, over the next few weeks.

“With another lockdown on the horizon (at time of writing) I’m hoping people will let things go wild, after all, it is for charity!”
