5. Community Building for Marketers: How to Connect, Engage and Foster Growth by Areej AbuAli
- Source: Community Building for Marketers: How to Connect, Engage and Foster Growth by Areej AbuAli
This is a cheeky ad, as this book technically isn’t out yet. However, if you’re in SEO, especially if you’re a woman in SEO, you would have or certainly should have heard of Areej AbuAli.
Areej set up the Women In Tech SEO community exclusively for people of marginalised genders — women, non-binary folks, and transgender men, among many other gender-expansive identities.
Why is it worth reading?
Starting as a small community five years ago, Areej has grown the Women in Tech SEO to a huge one with 26k followers on LinkedIn and digital marketing conferences in London, Portland, Philadelphia, Berlin, and Melbourne.
What she doesn’t know about community building for marketers isn’t worth knowing, which is why this book will be my first SEO book buy of 2025.

So there we have it, my top 5 SEO books of 2024 that you need for your bookshelf. The collection ranges from beginner’s guides to technical books for those of us who are further along in our SEO careers.
Outside of SEO books, where else can I find resources?
SEO is changing every day, but there are so many resources outside of SEO books for you to develop your SEO knowledge.
One of my favourite resources to recommend to beginners is LearningSEO.io. Aleyda Solis kindly set up this website to combine the thousands of free resources in a quick and easy directory. Thank you, Aleyda!
If Digital PR is your area of SEO expertise, our Digital PR Lead, Alice Walker-Gibbons, recommends signing up for The Digital PR Observer for all the latest Digital PR news.
Finally, our Chief Innovation Officer, Jame Welch, always “suggests that people read seo-theory.com in reverse order from about 2009” for a bit of bedtime reading.
And if all that seems too much, it isn’t for us here at Embryo! We have a wealth of experience across all areas of SEO and the historical knowledge and experience to know what works and doesn’t work.
