Meet Jamal, our new Website Project Manager!
The team at Embryo is very excited to introduce Jamal Maynard, our new website project manager!
Jamal has joined the Web Team and will be working with our lovely clients on everything from creative briefs to full website development projects. Jamal has a lot of ecommerce and campaign experience, previously working at Boots and American Golf.
We’ve asked Jamal a few questions so you can find out more about him! Here are his answers:
What will your role here at Embryo involve?
I will be responsible for managing creative and website projects from sign-off through to completion. I will be involved in each stage of the project, including the scoping, planning, design and testing.
What brought you to Embryo?
Having worked in-house for the entirety of my career, I have wanted to break into the agency industry for a while, given the skills I have gained working in-house. I love a challenge, and working in a new environment was the perfect opportunity for me to learn more.
What are you looking forward to about working at Embryo?
- Learning more about UX design and WordPress development.
- Working with some ambitious clients and interesting projects.
- Leaving Windows behind, and joining #TeamApple and improving my quality of life through the ease of Mac OS!
- The opportunity for the company to really grow and improve daily alongside it.
What do you hope to gain from the job?
- The ability to apply my knowledge of managing campaigns and projects.
- Build on my knowledge of websites & web processes, and learn more about the ways in which different clients like to work.
Where have you worked before and what type of projects/campaigns have you worked on?
Boots – I looked after a number of Online categories on boots.co.uk, from Sexual Health to Teeth Whitening, and Diabetes to Fitness Trackers. One project I was part of was to implement some Colgate sponsored site changes to the Dental & Teeth Whitening pages, ranging from adding functionalities that allowed customers to enter their desired qualities of a toothbrush, and the site would suggest a number of brushes that the customer may want to purchase based on their selections; to informing customers of the USPs of the latest products releasing within the Dental & Teeth Whitening online categories.
American Golf – I was responsible for translating all campaigns that were going into all stores throughout the nation, so that they would work for customers online. From Black Friday sales & The Masters related pages, which featured functionality that allowed customers to ‘get the look’ of their favourite golfers, to getting involved with the creation of the American Golf app.
What do you get up to outside of work?
Outside of work, I run my own clothing line, called Freequency MCR (check us out on Instagram), having started out just before the pandemic hit our shores. A lot of the time, I find myself managing the Social Media channels, creating designs and graphics, or networking with local musical talent, from DJs, producers, rappers and singers, and liaising with them to get them involved with Freequency, be it in the form of modelling our clothes or asking them to curate a 30-song playlist that we release monthly.
I’m also interested in photography and videography, and I often manage the photo shoots for Freequency, and also shoot music videos for the aforementioned artists who get involved with the brand.
If I’m not working in projects for Embryo or managing Freequency, I am spending time with my girlfriend exploring the new area we have just moved to and bought our first home in, and lastly, attempting to keep fit by playing for my local Saturday League football team as a striker (prolific form of course!)
We’re very excited about what Jamal is going to bring to the team here at Embryo! If you’d like to work on a project with Jamal, get in touch with us today.
